Julia Jasonsmith
Writing on Substack

Julia has come to realise even many experts don’t understand pollution.
Lots understand their core areas, from how to assess whether land is contaminated to how to measure a chemical very accurately. Others really get government rules on chemicals or corporate harm. But few understand why pollution is still increasing and how we might hope to stop it. Some don’t even realise that pollution affects almost all of us, from those of us born during the time of tetra-ethyl lead to those whose lives are full of plastics and the thousands of chemicals associated with them.
The work by Julia on Substack outlines the pollution crisis. It gives the context for this crisis and how harmful chemicals can be to life on Earth. It will describe pollution caused by ancient civilisations and the rules that prevented pollution long before industrialisation. There will also be a summary of key pollution tragedies across time, from the development and use of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) to the Flint drinking water disaster. This work will be the story of pollution.
